GLOBAL PRAYER-NET Weekly Prayer and Praise Page of Global Partners September 30, 2008 Prayer is your way, often the only way, to water the harvest. By prayer you can bring the Holy Spirit's blessing on any gospel effort anywhere in the world. --Wesley Duewel GP ASIA AREA Sri Lanka: The national Wesleyan Church leader and his wife are currently ministering to a young lady who is an alcoholic and suicidal. She has recently been staying in their home. Several people gathered at their home where they laid hands on her and prayed because the national leader sensed a dark spirit was controlling her life. Today GP received word that she is now going back to her home clean of alcohol, drugs, etc. Pray that all the good work begun in her life would continue once she goes back to her familiar environment. Pray that she would come to know Jesus as the One who can fill every void in her heart and life. Also, pray for the national leader’s family and the church as they minister to her needs. Thailand: Missionaries Katey Merriman and Jessica Whelan finished studying Thai in Bangkok, and they are now in the northeastern part of the country where they will teach English and help with a church plant. Life in the village is very different from life in Bangkok so pray that God would help them adjust. Pray that their lives and ministries “will produce every kind of good fruit” (Colossians 1:10 NLT). --reported by missionaries Dan and Pada Merillat GP CARIBE ATLANTIC AREA Guyana: Graduation for the Paramakatoi Bible school will take place on October 5. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s anointing to be upon the five graduates. Pray for them as they “work at telling others the Good News and fully carry out the ministry God has given [them]” (2 Timothy 4:5 NLT). GP EUROPE AREA Germany: Continue to pray for the open house that the Munich church has scheduled on October 19 to officially welcome neighborhood guests to their newly rented worship facility. The church will be sending flyers to an estimated 1000 homes, inviting them to the open house. Pray that these contacts would result in many opportunities to share the good news of the gospel. GP IBERO-AMERICA AREA Brazil: The following report was received from missionaries Josh and Dominique Baker on September 29: We just returned from junior high camp last weekend. The theme was “What Are You Hungry For?” Josh challenged students on the final day of camp to be “laborers” for Christ—students committed to serving God and people where they are, no matter how small or great the need. About 15 students responded to the challenge! Amen! Pray for these students to be totally committed to the challenge they accepted. Pray that they would know God’s will for their lives. Pray that they would put their futures in His hands and trust Him in all things. CONDOLENCES Global Partners was very saddened to learn that Samuel Ortega from the Dominican Republic died suddenly on September 28. Pastor Ortega was the Ibero-America area youth leader. He also was a worship team participant at this past June’s All Nations Celebration in Orlando, Florida. Please pray for the Ortega Gracia family and the Ibero-America Wesleyan Church as they grieve Pastor Ortega’s passing. |
